INTRODUCTION
In nature things move violently to their place,
and calmly in their place.
Bacon
The chapter of this little book on the electron should be first accepted as a possibility and then remembered. Its full logic will not become evident until the book on electromagnetic energy (light) is read and understood. Having read Book Four (on light), it is best to read again the chapter in this book on the electron. This is should be done because nether theory is supported by the known facts in many fields of science so that each part supports the other to form a total theory of nature. All of the links in this chain should be understood for the totality to be seen and understood as a complete functional system.
The creation of an electron and a positron from two gamma rays, and the structure of these vorticles, cannot be fully understood without first understanding the nature of gamma rays and Planck's constant. The nature of gamma rays cannot be fully understood without first understanding the creation of an electron and a positron and their structure, and Planck's constant. And the nature of Planck's constant cannot be fully understood without first understanding the creation of an electron and a positron and their structure, and the nature of gamma rays. So we have a gestalt of logic in which each part supports the other to complete a totality that is greater than the sum of its parts.
It is best that this series be read in order - that books one and two should be read before reading this book if one wishes to understand what is presented here. So please do not read this book first. Read the series in the order in which it is presented.
The theory set forth appears to have been found many centuries ago and lost. Perhaps it has been found and lost many times on this planet and upon others as well. This is the nature of truths and of half-truths, always available in the plane of thought, but victims of natural disasters and politics in our world of "materiality." The hints of the old theory are available in sacred texts the world over, but the details are missing. Ice ages and book burnings tend to eliminate details.
These little books are revelatory in the sense that they fill in some of the missing details. They explain how the findings of experiments in the various sciences relate to one another and why. But the theory set forth seldom alters the mathematics that have been found to be correct, nor does it question the experiments themselves. So do not expect it to tell of a new source of energy, a means of anti-gravity, faster-than-light travel, or the secret of eternal youth. What you will find is knowledge, new to you, which can lead to greater wisdom when properly understood.
Indeed, the implications of this theory, when combined with other available knowledge, is startling. And, in the long run, perhaps a hundred years from now, it may have done as much to alter our perceptions as has the discovery of the principle behind the wheel.
Our universe appears to be filled with a perfect fluid which is filled with energy in the form of motion. Concentrations of this energy form vortices which, in turn, are centers of energy. Motion within this fluid is what we call electromagnetic radiation. So radiated energy creates vortices which radiate energy. Along the way the vortices concentrate to form suns. Suns form other arrangements of vortices, explode, and the debris forms planets and other suns. But the basic principle remains: energy creates what we call matter, and matter creates more energy. Nothing appears to be lost and nothing appears to be gained. Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared. And creation continues, fueled by destruction.
The process of creation never stops, although, on a planetary
scale, growth proceeds so slowly that if we reckon it in our time,
planetary conditions can be regarded as permanent.
Gurdjieff
